INTERIOR DESIGN - A whole house
Detached residence, Rickmansworth, Herts.
This extended property had large rooms that needed furnishing, a selection of floor rugs as well as bespoke window treatments.
I introduced the client to an elegant layered look and we refined each space with sophisticated hues and modern simplicity. The oak staircase was an opportunity to add a bold stair runner to enhance the beauty of the wood. We balanced the clean lines, allowing the focus to center around the interesting family pieces featured throughout each room that add warmth and showcase memories. The blend of sleek lines, simple silhouettes, natural textures, colours and materials are telling the story of this busy family in a compelling way.
We made a statement by working in some bolder colours into a neutral base, like warm neutrals, golds and cool blues, to amp up or tone down the look of each room. Each one of the 6 bedrooms has a colour scheme that suits the personality of each family member. The large living room had warm neutral walls and a stone fireplace and by adding 2 bold sofas and 2 accent chairs, the client now has room to escape into without the disruption of a TV. The first dilemma to solve was to create a comfortable conversational layout for the client to interact with friends/family and enjoy a drink or two. The selection of layered and intricate neutral voiles for the kitchen allowed the bespoke cabinetry to shine. The music room also received a beautiful window treatment making the most of the garden and furniture for the whole family to gather to enjoy playing their instruments.
