INTERIOR DESIGN - 5 bed new-built
Detached residence, Wicken Bonhunt, Herts.
Description: the final design achieved a perfect balance of elegance and modern simplicity, with each room clearly defined in function and style. The use of natural materials, such as the oak staircase and exposed beams, combined with bespoke window treatments and comfortable furnishings, created a home that is both sophisticated and inviting. The client's desire for a "lived-in" look was realized through thoughtful design choices, resulting in a beautiful and functional rural retreat.
This project was a pleasure to work on, reflecting the client's vision and the natural beauty of its surroundings while providing a comfortable and stylish living space.
Brief: effective lighting scheme working alongside the exposed beams, bespoke design for 2 x dressing rooms, layout for 3 bathrooms, layout for a large kitchen/ utility room, 5 bedrooms reflecting easy going vibe that can be flexible with time.
Application of biophilic design: biophilic design was seamlessly integrated through the application of oak prominently featuring through out the property, allowing its natural beauty to shine alongside a neutral colour scheme. This not only adds warmth and texture but also creates a strong connection to nature. At the heart of one of the most frequently used rooms is a large red brick fireplace with a wood burner. This feature not only provides warmth and comfort but also serves as a focal point, grounding the space with a rustic charm. The layout is designed to take full advantage of the many windows that offer stunning countryside views. Seating arrangements are strategically placed to invite residents to relax and enjoy the natural scenery, fostering a sense of tranquility and connection to the outdoors. Displaying cherished keepsakes, from art pieces to sculptures, creates a personal and meaningful connection to the past. This element adds a layer of individuality and history to the home, enhancing its biophilic qualities. All Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) were sourced from the local area, significantly reducing mileage and the carbon footprint associated with transportation. This commitment to local sourcing not only promotes sustainability but also ensures that the home is furnished with high-quality, locally crafted pieces that resonate with the surrounding environment.
These biophilic design elements collectively contribute to a living space that promotes well-being, comfort, and a deep connection to nature, fulfilling the client's vision of a forever home.
